F-35 Arrival in Belgium: Curtiss-Wright Bolsters Air Base with Arresting Systems

Curtiss-Wright’s Role

Curtiss-Wright supports this advancement by supplying Aircraft Arresting Systems, including ESCO BAK-12, BAK-14, and MAAS, to enhance F-35 operations and NATO Air Forces’ interoperability.

Key Preparations and Installations

In 2023, preparations included commissioning the first Mid Runway Energy Absorber (MREA) ESCO BAK-12 at Florennes Air Base, with successful multiple cable arrestments at various speeds alongside the F-16 crew and CORTEX systems.

Full Operational Readiness

Florennes Air Base now features three new Cable Barriers and two Mobile Arresting Systems from ESCO, ensuring comprehensive support for F-35 missions.
